MB BS (Syd), FRACS
Dr Nicholson graduated MB BS from Sydney University in 1988, and began Surgical training at Westmead and Concord Hospitals in 1991. He then completed advanced training in Adult and Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery. He was awarded Clinical Fellowship at Harvard University in 1998 and in 1999 at the Childrens' Hospital, Boston and Brigham Women's Hospital. He has undertaken training in all aspects of Cardiothoracic Surgery, but has a specific interest in Structural Heart Disease, Congenital Heart Disease, Surgical Correction of Arrhythmias, Thoracic Surgery and Deformities._x000D_ Dr Nicholson is married to Melissa, who is an anaesthetist, and they have two sons, Andrew and Luke, and a daughter, Emma._x000D_ Dr Nicholson is actively involved in outreach programs performing Cardiac Surgery in developing countries of the Pacific region and Africa. Dr Nicholson is involved in active research on arrhythmia surgery, both in animal and clinical models, particularly regarding potential applications to surgery in the young.
