About Dr Ian Curley

Profile: Dr Ian Curley is an internationally trained consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon specialising in colorectal, endocrine and breast cancer surgery, and endoscopy.Dr Curley graduated from the University of Sydney in 1967 with an MB BS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) and then began the long process of training to be a surgeon, based at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital. Training occurred in most major teaching hospitals throughout New South Wales. Toward the end of this program he moved to the UK to undertake further sub-speciality training at several posts in England and Wales. He finished his training in 1973 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons England (FRCS). He then returned to Australia and went on to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 1975.Dr Curley has had a well established practice as a consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon in the Sunshine Coast and the Cooloola Coast districts since 1989. His continued involvement with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons mentoring program allows him to share his knowledge and be part of the training process of future surgeons.
