Dr Mackie graduated from Sydney University in 1977. Following post graduate work in Australia, Western Samoa (AVA), England, South Africa, she completed her fellowship in Rehabilitation Medicine in 1986. She worked as a Consultant at Westmead Hospital, The MS Society and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. She is now in private practice working at Mt Wilga Private Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital and Dalcross Adventist Hospital. She has completed post graduate qualification in Musculoskeletal Medicine (Otago), Clinical Trial Management (UC) and Clinical Education (Auckland).
