Dr Mackie graduated from Sydney University in 1977. Following post graduate work in Australia, Western Samoa (AVA), England, South Africa, she completed her fellowship in Rehabilitation Medicine in 1986. She worked as a Consultant at Westmead Hospital, The MS Society and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. She is now in private practice working at Mt Wilga Private Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital and Dalcross Adventist Hospital. She has completed post graduate qualification in Musculoskeletal Medicine (Otago), Clinical Trial Management (UC) and Clinical Education (Auckland). Dr Mackie has special interest in Lymphoedema management. She is also involved in continued research into the management of Lymphoedema, including research projects such as: The Socioeconomic Impact of Living with Lymphoedema; Intimacy and Sexuality Issues in Women with Lymphoedema; Adherence to Lymphoedema Therapy; and Innovative Compression Sleeve Development.
