Profile: Hannah grew up in Sydney and graduated from The University of Sydney with honours in 2005. She completed her specialist training in ENT in NSW in 2014. Wanting to develop her skills further, she completed two fully funded fellowships. The first year was in Paediatric Otolaryngology at Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth where she developed expert knowledge in managing paediatric airways and performing cochlear implant surgery. Her second fellowship was in Otology, Neurotology and Lateral Skull Base Surgery with the Manchester Skull Base Unit in the UK, one of the largest centres in the UK for this type of work.Her interests focus around hearing restoration surgery including middle ear implants, cochlear implantation, stapedotomy, and complex cholesteatoma management including endoscopic and open techniques. She also performs lateral skull base surgery for removal of tumours including vestibular schwannoma, meningioma and paraganglioma as well as surgery for patients with neurofibromatosis type 2.In 2010 she was awarded her Masters of Surgery from the University of Sydney after completing a research project studying the development of the inner ear hair cells in conjunction with the Ear Institute of University College London. For this research she secured a Project Award Grant from the Garnett Passe Memorial Foundation. Hannah’s research interests have flourished and she has given lectures at conferences the world over and is an editor of Cochlear Implant international Journal for the British Cochlear Implant Group.Hannah is a passionate teacher having given multiple lectures and tutorials with The University of Sydney Central Clinical School and Northern Clinical School, Wollongong University and Manchester University and was a Clinical Lecturer at St Vincent’s Medical School with the University of NSW.Outside of surgery, she loves classical music particularly opera, and has been a member of Sydney University Musical Society and Sydney Philharmonia Symphony Chorus. Her other interests include sailing and skiing.
