Profile: Clinical Associate Professor Hart MB.BS. MRCP (UK) FRACP FCCP is a Consultant Physician in Respiratory & Sleep Medicine caring for adult patients with their problems related to chest and sleep for over 25 years in the Illawarra.After studying Medicine at the UNSW, he graduated with honours in 1975 and underwent further training in the UK. Dr Hart came to Wollongong in 1983 working for the Illawarra Area Health Service, and in 1987 was appointed Director of Respiratory Medicine.He is currently Head of Respiratory Medicine for the Illawarra Shellharbour Local Health District and Wollongong Public Hospital.In 1994 Dr Hart set up the first Sleep Laboratory available in the Illawarra for Adults, and in partnership with a local Paediatrician formed the first combined Adult and Paediatric Sleep Laboratory in the Illawarra. Although he has now sold his interest in this laboratory, he continues to care for his Adult Sleep and Chest patients in his new location.Dr Hart is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and sits on the Medical Authority of the Dust Diseases Board iCare NSW Australia. He also currently teaches the next generation of Medical Practitioners at the University of Wollongong.
