About Dr Edward Sun

Dr Sun graduated from Sydney University in 1982, and became a NSW State Cancer Council Fellow in Radiotherapy between 1984-1987 at Westmead Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. He was a Registrar in Radiation Oncology at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong, between 1990-1991, gaining extensive experience in nasopharyngeal carcinoma including combined modality therapy and brachytherapy. Dr Sun joined the Sydney Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre in 1992, and helped set up the Central Coast Radiation Oncology Centre in 1995. Since July 2008, high dose rate brachytherapy for gynaecological cancers became available at Sydney Adventist Hospital. Image-based treatment planning employing MRI images allows for much more accurate delineation of the extent of disease, and the Vienna Ring Application enables intracavitary and interstitial therapy to be delivered accurately. Other interests include head and neck cancer, prostate cancer (including brachytherapy), lung cancer, stereotactic radiotherapy and tomotherapy.
