He gained his Primary fellowship in London and Final fellowship in Glasgow obtaining his FDSRCPS in Glasgow in 1982 and his specialist fellowship FFDRCSI in Dublin, Ireland in 1983.He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and was first registered as a Specialist OMFS in 1986.Doug has been based in Sydney since 1986 and has visiting rights at Tamara Private Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital, Mt Druitt Hospital, Blacktown Hospital, Westmead Hospital and Inverell Hospital. He is involved in the surgical training of registrar Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical trainees from Westmead Hospital and holds joint orthodontic & maxillofacial orthognathic clinics at Westmead Hospital.Doug’s wife Jacquie and her relatives are from the country and consequently he has always wanted to provide a rural oral & maxillofacial surgery service. As a command multi-engine instrument rated pilot, Doug flies himself so he can provide a service at Tamara Hospital every Friday. Doug has been coming to Tamara Hospital for 30 years.Approximately 4 years ago he started flying to Inverell once a month on a Tuesday and operates at the Inverell Hospital. He has an association with the Sydney Medical School, Poche Centre for Indigenous Health and on Inverell trips takes Sydney doctors who consult at the Inverell Armajun Aboriginal Health Service.When in Tamworth Doug has consulting rooms at Tamara Hospital and is always available to help colleagues and patients.For all appointments: Sydney 02 9621 2133
