Profile: Dr Dominic Simring is an Australian trained Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon who specialises in minimally invasive treatments for arterial and venous disorders.Dr Simring graduated medical school with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 2000, concurrently completing a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Political Science and Philosophy. After four years of general surgery training, he subspecialised in Vascular Surgery training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010.Dr Simring was then recruited for post-fellowship training at the internationally renowned University College Hospital, London, as part of their Multi Disciplinary Endovascular Team. He worked under Professor Krassi Ivancev, a world leader in interventional vascular radiology providing unique exposure to minimally invasive methods of treatment for arterial pathology, particularly complex aortic aneurysms.Declining the invitation to join the consultant staff at University College Hospital, he was instead drawn to the coastal lifestyle of the Byron Hinterland and from 2011 Dr Simring has been a consultant appointed at Lismore Base and St Vincent’s Hospitals, Lismore, providing a service to a patient population that extends as far south as Coffs Harbour and west to Glen Innes.
