Profile: Dr Parker is a nationally and internationally recognised specialist in disorders and surgery of the knee joint. He has particular interests in knee replacement surgery, sports injuries and ligament reconstruction surgery, as well as surgery to realign and restore the knee joint. Dr Parker’s elective practice focuses exclusively on the knee joint, on which he does over 600 procedures a year. Dr Parker also has a strong interest in nonsurgical management of knee arthritis, and has recently established a multidisciplinary clinic for this in his rooms in Chatswood.Dr Parker completed his orthopaedic training in Sydney and spent 2 years studying overseas in world-renowned institutions to further his knowledge and training, specifically in the area of knee surgery. Dr Parker began practice in Sydney in late 2001.Having established the Sydney Orthopaedic Research Institute in 2002, Dr Parker has subsequently become known internationally for his research into surgery of the knee joint. He has given over 60 original research presentations and received over 40 invitations to present at national and international conferences. He has published over 50 studies in prestigious orthopaedic journals and written many chapters for, and edited orthopaedic textbooks. Dr Parker is also a clinical associate professor at the University of Sydney and adjunct professor at the Queensland University of Technology.Dr Parker works at North Shore Private Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital, and has rooms in Chatswood and at the Mater Clinic.
