Profile: Dr Carmen Munteanu graduated from the School of General Medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy with the qualification “magna cum laudae” in 1992, then trained as Registrar in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in one of the biggest trauma centres in Europe.She became Board Certified in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in 1999, one of the youngest consultants in her field. In parallel with her practice, she continued to study, co-authored more than 50 papers, and became Senior Consultant in Plastic Surgery in 2003, with a diploma recognised in the entire European Union as well as the UK, and started her PhD in malignant melanoma.In the following years, Dr Munteanu spent her time divided between the trauma centre, as well as building her private practice, in addition to attending national and international workshops within the country and abroad.Dr. Munteanu established herself in Melbourne in 2000, undertaking further training and supervised practice under the auspices of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She was subsequently awarded The Australasian Fellowship in Plastic Surgery.
