Dr. Bernadette Hess graduated from The University of Melbourne in 1982, working at St Vincent’s then the Western Hospital. In 1990 she moved to General Practice, initially in Footscray and joined Alphington Medical Centre in 1997. Over many of those years, she also worked in General Practices attached to Emergency Departments in the northern suburbs. She has interest and experience in many areas of General Practice and enjoys seeing all, from babies through to people in their later years.
General practitioner treats patients of all ages from newborn babies to elderly people. GP have an important role to play in the management of acute care, chronic diseases and the treatment of patients with multiple health conditions. General practitioner (GP) treat all common medical conditions and refer patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment. Another important part of the work of a GP is preventative medicine and health promotion, include child immunisation and lifestyle modification.
