About Dr Ben Allen

Profile: Dr Allen graduated with Honors from the University of Newcastle in 2003. He then undertook post-graduate training in Victoria and New South Wales, working at Geelong Hospital, The Western Hospital in Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.Ben gained his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2010. In 2011 he undertook an International Fellowship in advanced endoscopy specialising in endoscopic ultrasound and the endoscopic management of Barrett’s oesophagus at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in Scotland.Upon returning to Australia in July 2012, Ben commenced public and private practice in Geelong and was appointed as a senior lecturer at Deakin University, Geelong. In November 2016, Dr Allen joined Dr Abdool's practice, consulting from the John Flynn Private Medical Centre.Ben is available to care for patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders with particular interests including endoscopic ultrasound, Barrett’s oesophagus, functional gut disorders and inflammatory bowel disease.Ben performs diagnostic and interventional gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound with further accreditation in small bowel capsule endoscopy.Outside of his medical responsibilities Ben enjoys spending time with his family and regularly competes in endurance triathlons.
