Profile: Dr Antony Friedman is a specialist Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist.He studied medicine at Monash University and received his MBBS in 2004. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as a specialist Gastroenterologist in 2011, having trained atMonash Medical Centre, Box Hill, Frankston and The Alfred Hospitals.In 2012, Antony completed an Intestinal Ultrasound Fellowship at the Ospedale Luigi Sacco, Milan, Italy, to become Australia’s first intestinal ultrasonographer and in 2016 received his postgraduate research qualifications from Monash University.Antony has an active research program focusing on inflammatory bowel disease at The Alfred Hospital and Monash University where he is on staff as as VMO Gastroenterologist and Head of the Intestinal Ultrasound Service. He offers a quality endoscopy service with a polyp detection rate over 66% at colonoscopy for bowel cancer prevention and utilises the Seattle Protocol for the assessment of Barrett's oesophagus.Antony practices at Masada Private Hospital and offers the following services including:• Consultation – at present all patients can be seen within one week of referral• Gastroscopy and colonoscopy• Open access endoscopy• Capsule endoscopy• Inpatient admissions and consultations• Bulk bills all full pensioners and charges reduced rates for part pensionersAll patients can be seen urgently by Antony and he is happy to discuss any issues with referring practitioners over the phone.
