Profile: Ananth graduated from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom in 1990. He did physician training in the UK obtaining membership of the Royal college of Physicians in 1994. He did cardiology registrar training at Kings College Hospital, London. In 1998 he came to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital / University of Sydney to study for a PhD in cardiology. During this time he attained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He trained in interventional cardiology at Prince of Wales Hospital / Eastern Heart Clinic in 2002-3. In 2003 he was appointed staff specialist in cardiology at St George Public Hospital specialising in interventional cardiology and pacing. He has authored over 20 cardiology papers in international journals and presented many abstracts in national and international cardiology meetings. He is a senior lecturer in University of New South Wales. He actively teaches residents and registrars in cardiology. He has been director of cardiac clinical trials at St George Hospital.
