About Dr Alex Cameron
Mr Alex Cameron is a fully qualified specialist Plastic Surgeon, having completed his training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
He attended medical school at Melbourne University, after completing his schooling in Adelaide. He returned to Adelaide to undertake basic surgical training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital before being accepted into advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has completed training in all facets of Plastic Surgery including hand surgery, microsurgery, head and neck surgery, breast reconstruction, and aesthetic surgery. Mr Cameron has a particular interest in melanoma and skin cancer surgery, as well as hand surgery including sports injuries and musicians hands.
As part of his training Mr Cameron completed a PhD investigating a novel treatment for hypertrophic scarring. He has been the recipient of a number scholarships and awards for his research, including the RACS WG Norman Trauma Fellowship, the RACS Sir John Loewenthal Fellowship and an NHMRC post-graduate scholarship.
Mr Cameron and Mr Snell worked together in Adelaide and look forward to further building the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery service at St John of God Bendigo Hospital and associated peripheral hospitals. This will enable more patients from the local area to be treated by a Specialist Plastic surgeon without having to travel to Melbourne.
